After having a stellar year in 2011 coupled with weight loss and a new album, Jennifer Hudson is ready to up it a notch for 2012. The American Idol winner recently sat down with NBC Dateline?s Lester Holt to talk about her upcoming wedding to David Otunga, who she has credited for helping save her life.
Regarding the tragic murders of her family, Hudson reflected back on how Otunga?s decision to join the WWE helped prevent her from being another victim in the 2008 tragedy.
?I remember it like yesterday. And I was literally pickin? up my bags to walk out the door to go to my mother?s house,? she reflected. ?And he called me, like, ?Can you come out here instead of going, you know?? And I was like, ?Okay, sure.? And that one decision, that one thing, I wouldn?t be sittin? here.?
After that, Hudson and Otunga had decided to postpone their wedding. Now, the Dreamgirls star has revealed that the couple has set a date for their wedding, though they plan on keeping that a secret. However, she was willing to talk about her wedding dress.
?It?s a show. It has three pieces to it. I designed it myself. It has a coat for the entrance and then when I get ready to walk, you take that part off. And then it?s another dress. And then by the time I get to the alter, it?s a whole new dress,? she explained.
