Incoming

I should have done this sooner, but I get nervous about introductions!

I would say I haven?t been doing roleplaying for a terribly long time considering I?m so young and it?s been a lifelong passion for so many, but even though boards like this are where I started, I?ve gone into table top games also and have been trying to start a larping group in my local area. Roleplaying is also what turned me into a major theater geek, which is definitely a major passion for me. While I haven?t done play by post roleplays In a couple years, partially due to a lack of net access, but I did a fair bit of table top roleplaying. And finally getting access again, I want get back to back to my roots. I might be a little rusty in the format department, but hopefully I?ll be serviceable in the actual roleplaying.

I guess I should mention my preferences. I?ve mostly done private one on one rps because I?ve found them easier to manage, but I certainly haven?t done them exclusively. When it comes to genre, lean more towards drama and think a lot about character dynamics, and like to talk a lot about plot or dynamic possibilities between certain characters. I?m not big on combat, but If there?s some interesting characters already in a roleplay with a fair amount of action and it seems like talking might be a ?free action?, then I can certainly consider it. And romance is one of those things where if I do it, I need to do it ?right? because I usually bang my head against a wall when I look back on some of the early romance rps I did. There are some genres I haven?t really done, like horror, but only because I haven?t gone through enough works of the genre to be confident/familiar with them. I also tend to make characters specifically for a particular roleplay instead of import characters. However, I?m more determined now to to be open to new things, so these all might change.

Fan fiction seems to be especially popular here, but it is something I rarely do. I can understand how it kind of isn?t entirely unlike using a premade setting or adventure of World of Darkness or Dungeons and Dragons or whatever, and it can feel fien for me when using an ?OC?, but when you?re told to use ?cannons? I feel really dirty. It seems awkward and restrictive for me to use somebody else?s character; the few times I?ve done it, it feels like I?m just emulating the writer of said work instead of actually creating something. On this note, I really hate how some niche sub/micro genres, super/real robot, tokusatsu, or magical girls in particular, the emphasis seems to be on using the works of that genre instead of just being inspired by them.

Okay, onto the personal stuff and fun facts? I?m twenty year old, born in raised in the state of Georgia. Currently, I am going to be going through vocationaional rehab (i.e job training). I have Aspeger?s syndrome, but I believe that roleplaying and theater have really helped me evolve and deal with some of the social issues of it. I also happen to be a transgendered woman.

Alrighty then, any comments or questions? I?ve heard the Elder Scrolls forum tradition of the fishy stick is popular here too? That?s one of the things that makes me think I?m gonna like it here.
