CINCINNATI (AP) -- The University of Cincinnati is formally installing its 28th president in ceremonies.
Santa Ono (OH'-noh) was named president last October by the board of trustees. His investiture will be Friday morning on campus.
The former UC provost is the school's first Asian-American president. The school has some 42,000 students.
U.S. Sens. Sherrod Brown and Rob Portman of Ohio are expected join city and school officials among those taking part in Friday's events. The university's nine-trustee board lost a member Wednesday when prominent attorney Stanley Chesley resigned under pressure in the aftermath of his Kentucky disbarment.
Ono also will be among UC "Bearcats at the Ballpark" Friday night at the Cincinnati Reds' game with Miami. New football coach Tommy Tuberville (TUHB'-ur-vil) will throw out the ceremonial first pitch.
